Michael Benjamin Washington stars in revival of Anna Deavere Smith's landmark solo play about the 1991 tensions between black and Orthodox Jews in Crown Heights, which reached their nadir after a 7 year old black child was killed by a car in the entourage of the  Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson. In subsequent violence a Jewish Australian student was attacked and killed.

A searing event in the history of New York City, eliciting anguished examinations of racism, anti-semtisim and how to foster understanding between two radically different communities.

Fires in the Mirror is playwrite Anna Deavere Smith’s groundbreaking response. Built from in-depth interviews with members of the Jewish and Black communities, she used their voices to tell the story verbatim.
