The French word "bouchon" describes a particular style of cafe that has existed in the province of Lyon for centuries. Bouchon Bakery is Thomas Keller's homage to this style as well as his take on a Mall restaurant. Which is to say, you haven't seen anything quite like Bouchon Bakery. The Café offers sit-down tables with waiter service and a busy takeout counter with more limited seating options. The emphasis here is on simple foods elegantly prepared such as soups, salads, and sandwiches. The menu is reasonably-priced and is one of New York's best foodie bargains.
